Looking for information on the Free Movies After Dark in Hartford? The “Free Movies After Dark” kicks off on July 27, 2012 and runs through September 7, 2012. Every Friday night a different park in Hartford will host a free movie. There will be movies for adults and movies for kids. This summer come out and see “Anchorman,” “Jurassic Park,” “Psycho,” Singin’ In The Rain,” “E.T.”, “Puss In Boots” and more. There will be free popcorn and entertainment before each show. Some kids showings have face painting before the movie. There will also be chances to dress-up in a costume, like the showing of “Jurassic Park” and a ‘mustache contest’ before the showing of “Anchorman.” Local radio stations will provide music and at some free movies there will even be live music.
The Free Movies After Dark in Hartford program will be held at several Hartford parks including Bushnell Park, Pope Park, Riverside Park, Keney Park, Elizabeth Park and Goodwin Park.
The opening credits begin at sunset, but before that there will be entertainment related to the movie that will be featured that night. For example, before “Anchorman,” there will be a Ron Burgundy ‘mustache contest’. When Jurassic Park shows, there will be a huge dinosaur on hand, donated for the night by the Connecticut Science Museum. When they show “Puss and Boots” for kids, there will be a presentation by the Connecticut Humane society and they’ll be bringing animals!

Tips: Bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket. Don’t forget the bug spray because after dark you’re likely to get bit by mosquitos while sitting in the grass. There will be free popcorn but you’re free to bring snacks and drinks. Please remember to clean up after yourself when you leave!
